The Industrial OS startup screen is a replacement for the System 7.5 Mac™OS screen which appears as the extensions are marching across the bottom of your screen following startup. It will work with the System 7.5 Update file in your system folder.
The easy way is to launch the "Industrial OS Patch" application and do as the welcome screen says. We all have Michael Hecht to thank for ResCompare, with which many such patches are created.
For the more adventurous and curious, I've included a Resedit resource of the startup screen. This file (IOS RSRC) contains the Industrial OS startup screen (ignore the icon resources) in PICT format and bears the resource ID -16506, the same number as the picture resource it replaces. It has been marked as purgeable and headed for the system heap, as is the Macintosh original. Obviously, you will need Resedit (or another resource editor) to install this, and you will also need to work on a COPY of the System 7.5 Update in your system folder. If you're good with Resedit, you don't need instructions. If you're inexperienced with Resedit, use the Industrial OS Patch application.
If you want to check out the Industrial OS picture beforehand, I've enclosed a PICT-formatted file (IOS PICT) which may be opened with SimpleText or any graphics application which reads such files.
In closing, please allow me to ask that you encourage the free exchange of ideas -- both in the development of software and in the use of the Internet. Support Macintosh until the bitter end -- be led not into PC temptation.
Sincerely,
Richard Laws

It is the user's responsibility to determine if the Industrial OS startup screen (in its various manifestations) will be suitable for the user's system. I have installed the picture using both methods into the System 7.5 Update files with no problems at all, but that doesn't mean the possibility of others having problems does not exist. In other words, use the patch, the PICT resource or the PICT file at your own risk. I disclaim all responsibility in the matter...
